This scarf has been printed with an original design by Dennis Baksh. The figures depicted on this shawl are Dennis. He is reconnecting with the land and his culture and at the same time cleansing his soul. The serpents are creatures of the dreamtime. The circles under Dennis’s feet represent his campsite while the ochre dots reflect aspects of the surrounding bushland. Dennis Baksh is a descendant of the Yorta Yorta tribe from the Murray River region in Northern Victoria. His artwork reflects various aspects of aboriginal culture, often depicting animals and the environment he grew up in. His paintings tell stories passed down from generations about the dreamtime, Aboriginal traditions and his own history.
